Cleveland Industrial Retention Initiative

To a great degree, WIRE-Net’s success and influence lies in its much-applauded grass-roots connection to the manufacturing businesses that populate the industrial streets of northeast Ohio. The Cleveland Industrial Retention Initiative (CIRI) is an integral part of Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson’s plan to use CIRI Industrial Development Managers as an outreach arm to the manufacturing community. The Managers, organized by region, make plant visits and offer help and resources to solve concerns the owners may have. CIRI Managers provide answers and intervention in the following areas:

utilities, permits, safety and security

public financing and financial incentives

infrastructure issues

Real Estate selection, development

plant floor operations improvement

workforce recruiting, training, and development

environmental and other compliances

CIRI was recently chosen as the outreach partner in a new initiative, MAGICC, partly funded by the US Department of Labor. CIRI, along with several community partners, will seek to improve training support to the metals industries in the area.


	Mission Reminder CIRI has proven again and again, by anecdote and by formal review, that one-to-one, personal inquiry and follow-up, by a seasoned manufacturing outreach staff person, gets things done. WIRE-Net is here to respond to concerns and address the obstacles faced by the area’s manufacturing businesses
