PAUL'S STORY

Paul Vanderlinden had a machining job that he liked and was good doing for more than five years. He watched as two shifts became one shift, and then he was laid off. He had a daughter to support, but for 10 long months he couldn't find another machining job. So he took some work in building maintenance to pay the bills and keep food on the table.

But he never lost hope of getting back to what he loves most–cutting steel.

"I like the challenge of making things," says Paul. "I come from a hard working family, doing honest work to earn a dollar." Paul did worry about supporting his family and kept looking for a good job that paid a living wage.

Paul's luck changed when he received a call from TJ McGowan of WIRE-Net employment services. The general manager at Adams Automatic and Paul agreed that he was a good fit for the company and he was hired as a CNC operator.

"WIRE-Net changed my life. Without WIRE-Net's confidence in my abilities, I wouldn't be working where I am today."

Paul grins as he tells about his future with the company. "It was an excellent placement for me. I got enough hours of experience to earn my journeymen's certification along with classes I took at Polaris Career Center. It means that in the future I can go to LCCC to work on a degree and probably advance up the pay scale."

Paul's boss, Eric Dales, told WIRE-Net, "Paul has worked out well for our company. We first looked for just an operator, but Paul is now doing off-setting, tooling, and is one of only two people in our company who can set up and operate all our machines."
