Cost Reduction
Leave No Stone Unturned

In order to be successful in your business, you need to not only increase sales, but also decrease costs. Over the past few months, WIRE-Net has presented several events to help you identify ways to increase sales. Often the first thing we do when faced with the issues of declining revenue is go out and get more.

Far less glamorous, and often ignored or dismissed, is the opportunity to reduce costs. But this strategy is just as important to your bottom line. Have you turned over every stone and are you aware of the new ones being dropped at your door every day? On Thursday, October 8, 2009, WIRE-Net will present a cost reduction forum to help you begin to turn over those stones. Three cost-reduction practitioners will be on hand to present their individual approach to helping you to reduce costs.

Michael Gagner, Turning Point Enterprises, Inc.
Michael focuses on Lean cost reduction and will be providing an overview for looking at your organization to decrease cost.

Craig Miller, Duffy and Duffy Cost Segregation Services, Inc.
Craig will discuss ways to decrease your tax burden if you own or build out a leased space.

Jay Simon, Profit Recovery Systems, Inc.
Jay will speak on the myriad of cost savings a company can realize in the telecommunications area.

Join us at WIRE-Net, 4855 W. 130th St, Suite 1, Cleveland, OH 44135 on Thursday, October 8, 2009 from 8:00 to 9:30 AM. Door open at 7:30. Cost for WIRE-Net members is $20; non members, $30.

Becoming a Supplier to the Aerospace Industry
Aerospace Prime Contractors Discuss Their Manufacturing Supplier Requirements

OAI Logo

Learn directly from the Prime Contractors and Tier-1 Companies about what it takes to be their supplier in the Aerospace industry! Market diversification is one of the keys to being a recession-resistant manufacturer. Take advantage of this joint WIRE-Net and Ohio Aerospace Institute forum to find out how you can become part of this growing market.

A panel of Aerospace OEMs and Prime Contractors will:

  • Layout the requirements for becoming a supplier
  • Discuss their current needs - from processes to their requirements to work with smaller manufacturers and minority-owned business
  • Answer questions

This is a rare opportunity to network with manufacturers and the tops of a supply chain. We are working to maximize the relationships that OAI has with the Prime Contractors and Tier-1 companies as well as the relationships WIRE-Net has with the supply chain network to create value. If you're an owner, CEO, business development leader, or sales engineer for a manufacturing company, you should plan on attending this special event.

Improving Process Flexibility

Improving manufacturing process flexibility is one increasingly successful way to survive and prosper in the new economy-with the uncertainty of future product demand. Most of us are no longer blessed with large volume, standard orders. In today's custom environment, manufacturers need to produce small lots and at the same time be capable of filling large orders when they arise. We will be showcasing one local company that is doing a great job of meeting today's demands.
Acorn Technologies Logo
Acorn Technology Corporation is a designer and manufacturer of custom electronic controls systems. They have developed a proven system for producing items in lots of one to one hundred. Come hear about how they are doing it and see firsthand the types of products and projects they deliver, as well as their procedures, as you tour their facility.

Join us on Tuesday, October 20, 2009 from 8:00 to 9:30 AM at Acorn Technologies Corporation, 23103 Miles Road, Cleveland, Ohio 44128. Door open at 7:30. Cost for WIRE-Net members is $20; non members, $30.

AME Kentucky 2009: Journey to Greatness

In 2009, manufacturers are confronted with the most competitive global marketplace in the history of human commerce. Within the new economic climate, as in every crisis, there are the makings of incredible success - or, of course, dramatic failure. We choose success.

The Association for Manufacturing Excellence and the world's leading manufacturers are returning to Covington, Kentucky, where the AME started 25 years ago, with only 100 innovators around the table. Last year, AME Toronto 2008 hosted over 2,500 Lean leaders from 38 countries, offering insights to transform your business and compete in the new global economy. Over ninety percent of people attending the Toronto Conference reported they returned to their shop floor with a highly valuable lesson that would make a difference to their bottom line.

WIRE-Net members and Great Lakes WIND Network subscribers are eligible for a 20% savings. Register online today for this conference, being held from October 19 through 23, 2009.
