Increase Company Profits

June 9th workshop could be just what you need to control small load freight costs!

Is the cost of shipping small loads killing your corporate profits? Do you struggle with ways to manage LTL shipments? You're not alone.

According to industry experts, industrial component and equipment manufacturers estimate transportation costs run as high as 4.3% to 4.7% of total revenue* and while many companies are able to control costs by reducing inventory and streamlining ordering processes, their transportation costs often remain unchecked.

If you regularly ship single orders of 150 pounds or more and want a way to benchmark and lower your current freight costs, then join us on Tuesday, June 9th at 8:00 AM at WIRE-Net for a special freight advantage workshop. Technical experts from Recon Logistics will be on hand to discuss how your company could save up to 30% to 45% using their Freight Advantage web portal.

Cleveland City Council Glimpses
Future of Manufacturing

On April 29, 2010 WIRE-Net held a Cleveland Manufacturing Briefing at Orlando Baking Company. Manufacturing leaders, Cleveland City Council members, and Deportment of Economic Development staff discussed how current trends impact Cleveland manufacturing jobs, what emerging markets, and opportunities exist for manufacturers, and how manufacturing investment and employment growth can be supported in Cleveland. Cleveland City Councilwoman Phyllis Cleveland for Ward 5 opened the Briefing with a welcome to the ward and an introduction of fellow colleagues in attendance: Councilwoman Mamie Mitchell, Ward 6; Councilman Zachary Reed, Ward 2; Councilman Anthony Brancatelli, Ward 12; Councilman Brian Cummins, Ward 14; Councilman Jay Westbrook, Ward 16; and Sharon Cole representing Councilman Eugene Miller, Ward 10. The Briefing concluded with a tour of Orlando Baking's impressive manufacturing facility.

Here are a few of the things they learned.

New Markets: Right for YOU?

by Ty Haines

Manufacturing market diversification is one key to building recession resistance. We know the depth of this last recession meant only a few companies in our network enjoyed continued strong, double-digit sales and profits growth through 2009. These companies, for the most part, were serving wisely selected markets or had great luck in one market. Last year's Manufacturing Summit created the New Markets Initiative which is growing now with help from the Cleveland Foundation.
