WIRE-Net receives funding ...
In December, the William J. and Dorothy K. O’Neill Foundation awarded WIRE-Net a one-year $25,000 capacity building grant to support Phase II of our Economic Innovation Initiative. The key element of this grant is to assist WIRE-Net in developing a new three-year strategic plan. When completed, this plan will drive WIRE-Net’s program, development and fiscal goals and objectives as well as establish realistic benchmarks for continued economic growth. The William J. and Dorothy K. O’Neill Foundation was founded in 1987 as a family foundation by Mrs. O’Neill and her eldest son, William J. O’Neill, Jr. Mr. O’Neill, Sr., with his brothers Hugh M. and Francis J., were successful business executives who started and acquired a number of trucking, leasing and transportation companies in the 1940's and 50's. Those businesses were consolidated under the corporate umbrella, Leaseway Transportation Corporation. Leaseway Transportation grew to become a billion dollar a year business. The O’Neill family members have generously shared their success and philanthropic dollars with the community through several family foundations, one of which is the William J. and Dorothy K. O’Neill Foundation. We are grateful that WIRE-Net has been the beneficiary of their generosity -- this recent gift further indicates their support of continued economic development in our region.
