Annette
May is School-to-Career Coordinator at Max Hayes High School (Career
Prep Program). At Max Hayes High School
while preparing students for the new generation of manufacturing
matters, Annette handles yearly recruitment to ensure the enrollment
of 50+ students on a yearly basis through the City of Cleveland
Employment Connection. She holds monthly Life Skills
meetings with students presenting information such as
“Interviewing”, “Making a Good First Impression”, and
“Goal Setting” to prepare them for the world of work.
Each
year she selects students to participate in the city and state wide
Youth Summit Council. This allows students to travel to
Columbus twice a year to participate and express their concerns
regarding his/her dreams, goals, and illustrate how they would
change something in their school, home, or neighborhood. Students
are given monthly homework assignments which are placed in the their
office files. Annette plans yearly activities for the students
of Career Prep Program as well; she attends monthly meetings with
the City of Cleveland Employment Connection, seminars, and
workshops.
Background
Mrs.
Annette May has over 15 years experience in office administration. She
worked for nearly 11 years as Job Developer at National Caucus &
Center on Black Aged Inc. – a non-profit organization where she
promoted and developed job-training opportunities for disadvantaged
applicants 55 & over. Annette worked as Administrative
Assistant at LTV Steel for three years where she assisted in staff
capacity by coordinating office services.
