School-to-Career: Employers
WIRE-Net's School-to-Career program provides
employers with a critical link to schools and the youth that they will
need to fill their jobs in the coming years. We actively work to
ensure that students are made aware of the opportunities that
manufacturing can provide and we work with parents & guidance
counselors to overcome negative perceptions of a career in
manufacturing.
Through our work with the schools and the
students, WIRE-Net has been able to place students into positions with
local businesses working as general laborers, machinists, welders,
diesel mechanics, and construction workers, to name a few! These
positions often start as 100-hour Apprenticeships that are PAID BY
WIRE-Net and monitored by WIRE-Net and school staff.
Not sure if an Apprenticeship is right for
your business? Consider hosting a Plant Tour or Job Shadowing
experience, or volunteer to be an industry guest speaker so you can
get to know the students!

get involved with WIRE-Net's School to Career program, please contact Rebecca
