School-to-Career: Students
-
Employability & life skills are the
important skills that can make or break success in a job search and on
the job. Monthly sessions will help you learn about problem
solving, decision making, teamwork, and workplace communication.
- Field trips and plant tours are
arranged with Cleveland-area businesses and schools that offer
post-secondary training. Join us to learn that manufacturing
is NO LONGER dirty, dark or dangerous and see some of the exciting
products that are made right here in Northeast Ohio.
- Job shadowing takes a plant tour to
the next level. Students work side-by-side with
manufacturing employees to really see what the job involves and to
learn about the position. These paid experiences are the
first step towards applying what the student has been learning and
working in a real manufacturing position.
- Apprenticeships allow students to
spend 100 paid hours at Cleveland-area businesses working in their
trade. Students are connected with a select employer that
has agreed to teach them about the trade in a hands-on work
environment. The student, teacher, WIRE-Net, and employer
all agree upon the goals for the experience and regular meetings
to help make sure that the goals are met.
